Northfield Methodist Church

Hello Everybody!
Thank you so much for the preparation and warmth of welcome we as a family have walked into in moving to Northfield. Every thoughtful gift and wish sent to us by so many is deeply valued. While it is humbling to know that people do this without even knowing much about us, I also stand in awe by the possibility of this open and unconditional welcome we have experienced.
Imagine a church that expressed such welcome to every person who walks into it. Imagine the gift received by those who are met with a welcome that says, "I don't know who you are or how you came to be here, but we are just so pleased to have you sharing this moment, month, year or season with us." Imagine a church that welcomes and affirms minister and laity alike. Imagine children, teenagers, young women, men & families speaking of their earliest encounters with the church being one of affirmation and inclusion.
Imagine a church opening itself up to receive the community in every pain and struggle, in every search for truth and clarity, in every moment of confusion and trauma, and in every moment of triumph and victory. Imagine a church that is able to celebrate humanity in all its diversity. Imagine a church that knows God's love is big enough to embrace the very best and the very worst of every human being.
I am told that this is already the experience of many here at Northfield. May the Lord week by week, add to those who extend and those who receive such a welcome. Witness through welcome.
