Weekly Greeting: Sunday 31 January 2010

Dear Friends
We would like to welcome you to the services today and pray that you will be blessed by all that happens here. If you are new to Northfield or just visiting, a special word of welcome, please make yourself known to the stewards. We would love to get to know you!

Weekly Greeting: Sunday 20 September

Dear Friends
Today our theme is 'Getting out of the salt-shaker'. Our gospel reading comes from Matthew 5:13, where Jesus says: "You are the salt of the earth, But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again"? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men." Strong words by Jesus - we need to take note of them!

Weekly Greeting: Sunday 10 May

Dear Friends,
Welcome to our service! If you areĀ a regular worshipper at Northfield, it is very good to see you! If you are new to Northfield or visiting us, can we extend a special word of welcome to you and please make yourself known to us.
We are in the second week of our sermon series called 'When Life Breaks Down'. The series runs through May culminating in a weekend healing mission at the end of the month which will be led by Trevor Hudson and Alexander Venter from Vineyard.

Weekly Greeting: Sunday 19 October

Dear Friends,
We greet you in the wonderful name of our Saviour Jesus.
This Sunday we are in the second week of a three-part series entitled Experiencing God's Healing Presence. We will be considering the topic 'healing a hurt mind.' The following article illustrates the power of faith in healing.

Weekly Greeting: Sunday 11 May

Dear Friends
Welcome to our services today.
Today we celebrate 'Pentecost'. The word comes from the Greek word 'pentekostos', meaning fiftieth. Since about the second century, Christians have celebrated the coming of the Holy Spirit fifty days after the death and resurrection of Jesus, on the Jewish Feast of Pentecost, and with the descent of the Spirit, the birth of the church.
After Christmas and Easter, Pentecost marks the most important celebration of the Christian calendar. As we read about Pentecost in Acts 2 and other scriptures it is easy to be, once again caught up in the enthusiasm of the early days of the church!
It is with great pleasure that we welcome Rev Janet Verrier to Northfield today. Janet is part of the team at Bryanston Methodist Church. Janet was a single mother for about twelve years. She has a wonderful heart for God and for people. We look forward to the insights that she will bring. Janet will be preaching at the 8am, 10am and 6:30pm services.

Weekly Greeting: Sunday 20 January

Greetings in the wonderful name of our Saviour!
We are leading up to the Covenant service on the 3 February when we renew our part in the Covenant God made with us. Our theme this week is 'Life in the Vine'.
Is it not wonderful to belong to a worshipping community! To be able to associate with like-minded people at a place like Northfield Methodist is indeed a privilege. The joy we experience as we develop relationships within our Christian family is a precious gift from God which is to be nurtured at every opportunity.
The passage from Ezekiel can be interpreted as showing how our faith grows. We are led to the river where the water is first ankle deep, then knee-deep and then up to our waist. We are led in to a deeper and deeper experience of the presence of God in our lives and as we deepen our experience of God so are we more able to offer a rich harvest to God.
