Weekly Greeting: Sunday 24 January 2010
Hello Everybody!
Thank you so much for the preparation and warmth of welcome we as a family have walked into in moving to Northfield. Every thoughtful gift and wish sent to us by so many is deeply valued. While it is humbling to know that people do this without even knowing much about us, I also stand in awe by the possibility of this open and unconditional welcome we have experienced.
Weekly Greeting: Sunday 13 September
Dear Friends
Warm greetings! As many of you know. Northfield Methodist Church will soon be hosting for the fourth time our annual NORFEST. We would love you to share in this event in some way. But perhaps, first of all, you would like some information around why we host this event. Here are some reasons why we invest so much time and energy in this event.
Weekly Greeting: Sunday 10 May
Dear Friends,
Welcome to our service! If you are a regular worshipper at Northfield, it is very good to see you! If you are new to Northfield or visiting us, can we extend a special word of welcome to you and please make yourself known to us.
We are in the second week of our sermon series called 'When Life Breaks Down'. The series runs through May culminating in a weekend healing mission at the end of the month which will be led by Trevor Hudson and Alexander Venter from Vineyard.
Weekly Greeting: Sunday 30 November 2008
LETTER FROM SCHALK AND MARLENE PIENAAR
Our move to Pretoria (Brooklyn Methodist Church) is now upon us. Tomorrow morning the truck will arrive and the next part of our journey as Christ-followers will begin.
Weekly Greeting - Sunday 10 August
Dear Friends
In our journey through Romans so far, Paul has focused mainly on trying to understand what Jesus has done for us. Now in Chapter 12 he focuses on the practical. If this is what Christ has done, THEREFORE, this is what we should DO, what we should BE, how we should BEHAVE. Chapter 12 is well worth reading and studying because it is one of the best descriptions in the New Testament of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus.
A "disciple" is a learner of pupil of Jesus. Discipleship does not begin with intellectual assent to a set of doctrines or obedience to a list of rules. At its centre it is a living relationship with Jesus. All we have to do is respond to Jesus two commands, to "follow me", and to become "fishers of men & women". (Luke 1:17)

Weekly Greeting: Sunday 20 January
Greetings in the wonderful name of our Saviour!
We are leading up to the Covenant service on the 3 February when we renew our part in the Covenant God made with us. Our theme this week is 'Life in the Vine'.
Is it not wonderful to belong to a worshipping community! To be able to associate with like-minded people at a place like Northfield Methodist is indeed a privilege. The joy we experience as we develop relationships within our Christian family is a precious gift from God which is to be nurtured at every opportunity.
The passage from Ezekiel can be interpreted as showing how our faith grows. We are led to the river where the water is first ankle deep, then knee-deep and then up to our waist. We are led in to a deeper and deeper experience of the presence of God in our lives and as we deepen our experience of God so are we more able to offer a rich harvest to God.
